Harlingen woman charged with nine counts of fraud

A woman makes a report about her personal information being used without her permission which leads investigators to arrest another woman on nine counts of fraud.

On Thursday, July 17th a woman filed an identity theft report with the Harlingen Police Department stating her personal information had been used to open a on-line credit card account without her knowledge.

During the course of the investigation the detective discovered several other individuals had been victimized in the same manner.

The investigation lead to the identification of Claudia Cecilia Gallegos, 30, and a arrest warrant was issued.

On July 31st, detectives located Gallegos at a residence on the 1600 block of Murrah Street and arrested on charged with nine counts of fraud/possession of identifying information and handed a bond totaling $180,000 dollars
