Harlingen man arrested for theft of wheelchair

Police arrested a man for theft and resisting arrest after he was reported traveling against traffic.

On Wednesday, April 17, uniformed police officers responded to the 2000 block of S. Expressway 77 in reference to a male, riding in a wheelchair, traveling against traffic.

Officers made contact with Tyrone Budlowe Outlaw Jr., 38, who was in a wheelchair. Police questioned him and  attempted to do a pat down when he pulled away and attempted to escape from the officers. Police were able to handcuffed and arrest Outlaw.

After further investigation, officers did find out that the wheel chair, valued at $1,200, was the property of WalMart and had been taken without consent.

Outlaw has been charged with with resisting arrest and theft with a bond of $4,000.
