Harlingen man arrested for spitting in police officer's face
HARLINGEN, TX (KVEO NEWSCENTER 23) — Harlingen police arrested and charged a man with harassment of a public servant after he spit in a officer's face.
On Friday, November 8th at 11 p.m. a Harlingen police officer made a traffic stop on the 2700 block of E. Harrison on a red 1998 Jeep for driving without its headlights on.
The driver, identified as Juan Jose Garcia, 28, did not have a driver's license and was going to be handcuffed, but Garcia became uncooperative and then intentionally spitting in the face of the officer.
A passenger in Garcia's vehicle, a 15 year-old girl, who had been reported as a runaway was also arrested after she was found in possession of 1.7 grams of marijuana.
Garcia was charged with harassment of public servant, traffic violations and on warrants and handed a bond of over $25,000 dollars.
