An Edinburg woman has been sentenced to prison for conspiracy to commit marriage fraud,

Sandy Botello Ramirez, 77, was sentenced to 2 years in federal prison and 2 years of supervised release.

Botello-Ramirez was a matchmaker for marriages, which never existed, dating back to 2002 and involving foreign nationals and U.S. citizens for profit.

Foreign nationals hired Botello to obtain residency status in the U.S. by arranging a sham marriage with a U.S. citizen by paying them to participate.
