Driver charged with 3rd DWI offense

San Benito police have arrested a driver, for the third time, on the charge of driving while intoxicated.

On Thursday, April 18, police responded to a call of a vehicle accident in the parking lot of the Heather Apartments on the 1000 block of E. Business 77.

Officer made contact with Leon Ramos Jr., 32, who was driving a black SUV and involved in the auto accident that was reported. During questioning, the officer could smell alcohol on Ramos' breath, slurred speech, blood shot eyes and poor balance.

Ramos' stated he had been drinking and was moving his vehicle from his neighbor's parking space and struck another car with his rear bumper.

Police arrested Ramos' for DWI and during his booking it was discovered he had two prior convictions for the same charge.

Ramos was arraigned on a DWI charge and his bond was set at $2,000.
