Couple arrested for transporting over 200 lbs. of marijuana

Harlingen police arrested two people for transporting over 200 pounds of marijuana.

On Wednesday, November 27th, an officer with the Harlingen Police Department's Special Investigation Unit was contacted by the White Sands HIDTA Task Force in reference to a man and a woman being detained by Homeland Security investigators in Brownsville.

The HIDTA officer reported that he had observed a blue Lincoln Towncar back up into a brushy area of the Sable Palm Sanctuary, near FM 511 and Southmost, and seeing several individuals load three bundles into the trunk of the vehicle.

The vehicle was stopped as it attempted to leave the area and the driver was identified as Alejandra Gonzalez, 24, and her passenger as Carlos Flores-Molina, 22.

Officers seized three bundles of marijuana, weighing 216 lbs., from the trunk and both Gonzalez and Flores-Molina were charged with possession of marijuana with bonds set at $62,000 and $52,000 dollars.
