County Commissioners want to increase beach user fees at county parks, like Isla Blanca and Andie Bowie Park, almost as much as $3 dollars, but Cameron County Park Director, Javier Mendez, says commissioners want to make the increase gradual.

"At Isla Blanca Park and Andie Bowie, we charge $4 dollars, over at beach access 5 and 6, to drive on, its $3 dollars and we are going to increase it by $3 dollars to make it uniform and go up to $6 dollars for the day use." Mendez says he will come up with a plan in the next two weeks. The beach user fee increase may be needed because of a budget shortfall.
