County Judge Speaks Out on Problems of County's Judicial System

BROWNSVILLE — Port Isabel attorney Ray Marchan was found guilty of paying kickbacks to former 404th District Judge Abel Limas and now Cameron County Judge Carlos Cascos says Marchan's conviction underscores the problems with the county's judicial system stating, "This whole situation is disgusting. I think what it has done is seriously damaged the credibility and the trust that people in Cameron county and really throughout South Texas have in our judicial system. We have a lot of bad apples and it is time they get cleared out. It is going to take a lot of time to restore the trust and integrity of the judicial system in South Texas." Mr. Marchan awaits sentencing and remains free on bond on a condition that no women stay in his home since he has a history of family violence.
