County Judge Asking Residents to Report Spillover Violence

Thursday, November 3, 2011 - 7:49am

CAMERON COUNTY - Cameron County Judge Carlos Cascos is asking residents to call law enforcement authorities if they witness any spillover violence from drug cartels on this side of the border.

He states that he has been mentioning about the spillover for several years and recalls talking about it as far back as 2008. Recent events, like a high speed chase in Brownsville and the arrest of several Mexican cartel members in the Valley only reaffirms his original suspicions. "I think there's more of it that's going to be coming. I don't think this is the end of it, but all we ask is for people to be aware of what's going on, what can you do? What can the citizens do? I think that if they see something that doesn't look right, if they believe something is going on, don't be afraid to report it to law enforcement."

Judge Cascos says all law enforcement agencies must work in unison to put a stop to this spillover violence.
