You've noticed them already after all the wet weather we have seen this week, mosquitoes, so what are officials doing to stop the spread of them?

The Cameron County Health and Human Services department is gearing up to combat the blood suckers. They have received several calls from people in the county complaining about mosquitoes. The most calls so far are from the Rio Hondo and Santa Maria areas. Employees are combating the mosquitoes by throwing bri-quets into still water which helps prevents mosquitoes from developing. If it is to late do that process and the mosquitoes are already adults then employees are spraying in the area.

If you live in Cameron county and have any mosquitoe problems to please call 956.247.3599 or in Hidalgo county you can call 956.383.0111.
