Teens say angry man threw ax into their vehicle.

(WESH) Police are investigating an ax attack carried out on a group of teens in Daytona Beach, Florida.

The victims said a man threw the ax through a window of their Jeep Cherokee on Friday afternoon.

"If they did say something to him, that didn't give him the right to do what he did because he could have killed someone with that ax," Daytona Beach Police Department spokesman Jimmie Flynt said.

Officers said that the teens claim the other driver accused them of making a racial slur. They said he stopped, pulled open one of the Jeep's doors and threatened them.

According to an arrest affidavit, the man claimed he just finished some time in prison and asked if they'd like a pistol in their mouths.

When the teens pulled away, they say the man lobbed the axe into the Jeep's rear window.

Glass shattered all over the victims, investigators said. Two of the teens were treated for minor cuts.
