Visitors to the McAllen Convention Center will not be able to see the fountains in front of the pond.

The pumps are being repaired after a water break. Water flooded into the pump room and ruined the control panels.

Normally, the fountains would be shooting water in front of the convention center building.

Officials say the repairs may be costly because many parts are custom made.

"We experienced a break recently at one of our main water lines," McAllen Convention Center Director Omar Rodriguez said. "It flooded our pump room and it's going to be out of service for while, we're currently working on getting that fixed, and procuring the right equipment."

There is no timetable for when the fountains will be fixed.
