Construction began on Monday for a railroad bridge crossing near Veterans highway as part of the West Rail Relocation Project.

Crews began working on the project west of Brownsville and the job will take almost a year to complete. The bridge is intended to take pressure off city rail crossings and route the trains around the city rather than through the city. There is no plan right now to interrupt traffic at Veteran's highway, but drivers should be aware of the construction.
