Commissioners Court Shorten Purchasing Days for Fireworks

Friday, June 10, 2011 - 8:53am

The Cameron County Fire Marshal has persuaded the county commissioners court to shorten the number of firework sale days due to dry conditions.

The State of Texas allows for at least ten days of sales, but with the extremely dry weather the Fire Marshal thinks that's to many days. Instead, he asked for the sale days to be cut down to only five days before July 4th. He says fireworks can be dangerous and he hopes people are safe. The commissioners court passed the request meaning sales will start on the last day of June and end on July 4th.
