Combes — Official autopsy results have been released on a woman found dead on the side of the road. Combes police say she was shot in the head and in the back and now officials are working to figure out not only who killed her, but why.
Combes police, assisted by several outside law enforcement agencies, are investigating this case as a homicide.
News Center 23's Na'Tassia Finley has more.
This morning Combes police attended the autopsy of victim, 20 year old Brisna Mireles, to try and piece together the circumstances surrounding her death.
Her body was found dumped in Combes just before FM 508 in a grassy area Saturday morning. She had been dead for a few hours when authorities arrived.
With the body being dumped in such a high traffic area, right across from the Stripes Convenience Store and right along the Frontage Rd. it raises the question as to whether or not the person who may have murdered the woman, wanted the body to be found quickly.
After all, Combes has plenty of rural areas to dump a body.
That's just one of many questions investigators are looking for answers to. As of now they haven't released a motive, but do tell News Center 23 that they are sifting through several leads that have come in to their department and may have an idea as to what lead to the murder and have several persons of interest in mind. They however, are keeping tight lipped about anything more until they can confirm additional information.
In the meantime, if you have any information on this homicide, contact Harlingen Crime Stoppers at 425-TIPS.
