Icy weather slows travel for millions across the Northeast. Jay Gray reports.

(NBC News) The official start to winter is still more than a week away, but Mother Nature doesn't care what the calendar says.

She continued to dump snow and ice across several states Tuesday.
Plows pushed away what they could, but jack-knifed trucks and stranded cars still littered roads and highways across the MidAtlantic and Northeast.

Getting there in the air has been just as difficult.

Hundreds of flights have been delayed or canceled and many passengers understand it could be a long wait.

"I'm looking outside, looking at the weather map thinking we're gonna be here for a while," said traveler Nathan France.
