Two teams who have never played before come together on the field in their first ever match up.

"The big clash of Weslaco, the energy is huge, it's going to be a big game,” says Buddy Payne of Payne Auto Group.

But before that, Jimmy Payne and his crew from Payne Auto Group awarded both Weslaco East and Weslaco High School with one-thousand dollar scholarship checks.

"The scholarships distributed tonight will go towards graduating seniors of all three high schools. Welsaco High School, Weslaco East and South Palm Gardens High School," Oscar Riojas.

Payne Auto Group has pre-selected half a dozen highly anticipated football games this season from around the Rio Grande Valley to feature as the Clash of the Week. They not only cheer on the teams, but also award big money to those schools as well to show their commitment to education.

And on the field…the Wildcats came out strong and dominated the game ending the first half with 14 points on the board. Unfortunately the Panthers just couldn't find their way into the end zone. Wildcats shut out the Panthers this game 24 to zero.

Weslaco East takes the win and bragging rights until next season.

Congratulations to both teams in this Week’s Clash of the Week.
