City of Weslaco Holds 9/11 Ceremony
HIDALGO COUNTY — Hidalgo county residents remembered those lives lost on September 11, 2001 by attending a ceremony, held by county officials, on Tuesday morning. Local emergency responders and members of the armed forces were invited and also thanked for their service during and after the attacks of that day. County Precinct 1 Commissioner Joel Quintanilla commented on parents making sure their children learn about what happened on that date eleven years ago, "We must remember, this is something we must never forget. You know almost three thousand people lost their lives and as our children grow up, they live in liberty, they live in freedom, but they don't often realize how important it is to realize the way we live and how fortunate we are."
