City Sprays Against Mosquitoes
RIO GRANDE VALLEY — Last week's rain may have been good for local crops, but it doesn't come without drawbacks such as an increase of mosquitoes. City health experts have received about thirty complaints this week about mosquitoes and the city began a spraying campaign to cut down on the pesky bugs. Health department employee Willie Gonzales stated, "This summer we are not as busy as we have been in the summers past. We did have some rain over a week ago and it does take about seven days for the mosquitoes to hatch. We are getting a lot of mosquito complaints now so we have started a mosquito campaign throughout the city to eliminate the problem."
