City Officials in Uproar About Potential Post Office Consolidation
Postal Workers May Lose Jobs, Forced to Relocate
Postal workers and city officials are in an uproar after learning that the U.S. Postal Service is planning on closing down a mail processing facility in McAllen.
Mayor Richard Cortez was one of many who signed a petition this afternoon in hopes of keeping the facility open.
The U.S. Postal Service is planning on shutting down the facility located on pecan avenue and moving it to Corpus Christi.
City officials say the proposal makes no sense especially since Hidalgo County has more than triple the amount of Corpus.
