It has been a long wait, but the City of McAllen and it's Firefighters Association have finally agreed on a new fire union contract.

Debate and negotiations between the city and the firefighters union have dragged on for months with the main issues being the size and management of the department and possible salary increases. The fire department contract included a decrease in the number of firefighters from 40 to 38 due to budgeting cuts, but even with two very different opinions the contract was signed and will last for another year and half.
