It's a first for the City of Brownsville as they have purchased a mobile recreation unit to be transported throughout the city for children.

The white trailer will be reaching out and helping children who live in underserved areas of the city and provide children the opportunity to play, exercise and socialize during the summer months when they are out of school. Parks and Recreation Director, Chris Patterson, says many of the city's neighborhoods don't have direct recreational services or facilities. Now many children, who represent a big chunk of Brownsville's population, will get the attention they need. The mobile unit will officially launch it's 2011 tour on Monday at the La Galaxia and La Lomita Park at 10 AM.
