City of Brownsville Receives Award for Promotion of Heart Health
The Texas Council on Cardiovascular Disease and Stroke recently recognized the City of Brownsville for their promotion of heart health.
On Wednesday, a special ceremony was held at the Brownsville Event Center where newly elected Mayor Tony Martinez accepted the award on behalf of the city. The council's Texas Heart and Stroke Healthy City Recognition Program honors cities that advance recognized best practices for preventing and controlling heart disease and stroke.
This year the city received a silver status and the city will be re-evaluated in 2013 and city officials hope to receive gold or even platinum status.
