City of Harlingen to host Memorial Day ceremony

The public is invited to attend a Memorial Day ceremony in Veterans Memorial Park at 11 a.m. Monday, May 26, to honor the fallen heroes of Harlingen and the Rio Grande Valley.

Veterans Memorial Park is located at 1425 Morgan Blvd. in Pendleton Park at the intersection of Grimes Avenue and Morgan Boulevard. Mayor Chris Boswell will provide an official welcome and a speech. Harlingen District 3 Commissioner Michael Mezmar also is scheduled as a speaker. The Harlingen Police Department Color Guard will display flags representing all military branches.

The names will be read of all Valley military personnel who have made the ultimate sacrifice while in the service to the United States. The public is welcome to join in singing patriotic songs. Student musicians from the Harlingen High School Band will render taps.
