Brownsville city commissioners are planning on canvassing and possibly setting a run-off election date to declare a winner in two city government elections that ended too close to call.

The meeting is set for Tuesday at city hall during the city commission meeting. During the 14th election, none of the four candidates pulled in more than 50% of the vote, that would've clinched the At Large A commissioner seat. The closest candidates, who will now move on to a run-off election, are Robert Lopez and Estela Chavez Vasquez. A run-off election will also be held for the commissioner District 4 seat with Tony Zavaleta and John Villarreal vying for the position. If the city commissioners approval the planning and canvassing of the election run-off's then June 18th with be the date for the elections.
