City Commission Passes Sex Offender Ordinance
The Brownsville City Commission has passed an ordinance that affects sex offenders and protects children.
The new ordinance restricts where certain types of sex offenders can live and where they can socialize. The ordinance refers to only high risk offenders and those who have committed offenses against children. It creates a buffer zone to reduce the contact between the offenders and places where children commonly gather, like schools, zoos, parks and Daycare. These particular offenders are required to live 1,000 feet from these locations.
