City of Brownsville Fourth of July events
BROWNSVILLE, TX — The City of Brownsville invites everyone to the Salute to Freedom Festival from 5 to 10 p.m. Friday, July 4, 2014, at the Brownsville Sports Park. The festival will showcase live music, food and beverages from local vendors, various interactive activities, as well as the traditional fireworks show. This year’s event will also feature a new experience for festival goers—the Glow Dash 5K.
The Glow Dash 5k is Brownsville’s first-ever nighttime 5K run/walk, featuring professional, glow-in-the-dark dancer Ryan “GLOW POP” Rosinski. Music, lights and more than 200 gallons of glow paint combine to give participants an adventure in health and wellness that cannot be missed. Salute to Freedom is a family friendly event that will offer laser tag, a rock climbing wall, a kids’ play center. Additionally, Payne Volkswagen will allow attendees to paint a VW beetle to make it glow in the dark. Several musical acts will perform throughout the day with Joe “King” Carrasco & the Connectors headlining at approximately 8 p.m.

- Brownsville Fire Fighters Association – fajita tacos

- Old Soda Pop Shop - hotdogs, brisket burgers and ice cream floats
The Salute to Freedom festival is hosted by the City of Brownsville, H-E-B and the Salute to Freedom Committee. The Brownsville Sports Park is at 1000 Sports Park Blvd.
