Good Samaritan helps package full of gifts delivered to wrong address find its rightful owner.

A St. Louis woman's package filled with one-of-a-kind Christmas presents never arrived at its intended destination.

The thinking was it could be gone forever, but there was a happy ending thanks to the kindness of a stranger.

Lynne Bayley spent several hundred dollars on gifts for family members who live in Ohio.

She said a UPS worker offered to help her consolidate all her boxes to save her some money since it was going to the same destination, but apparently an old label was still on the box.

So instead of going to Ohio, the package came an apartment building in St. Louis.

Bayley said not only did the package go to the wrong address, but to the wrong person at the wrong address.

The person who it was delivered to found a smaller box within the larger one with Bayley's number on it and diligently tried to track her down.

On Saturday morning, Bayley got the call thanks to the fact that one of the smaller boxes inside the bigger one had her home phone number on it.

"It's one of those Christmas miracles. It's a shame they don't happen every day. Maybe that's what makes Christmas so special. We just saw 'Miracle on 34th Street' the other day and it kind of reminded us of that same thing. Even when something doesn't go quite right, you see all the goodness in it and you recognize the goodness in people. So I hope she gets all the kindness back that she shows to people because clearly she's a good person," said Bayley.

Bayley offered the good Samaritan a reward for returning the gift but said she declined.

Bayley sent her a Christmas present anyway.

The Good Samaritan was unavailable for comment.

Bayley said she has no hard feeling towards UPS.

In fact, she said she was very pleased that they made sure her package would reach her family in Ohio in time for the holiday free of charge.
