BROWNSVILLE - Organizers of the Charro Days Festival geared up for the 75th annual celebration by gathering on Wednesday for the unveiling of the 2012 logo.

The festival was created in the 1930's to uplift the communities of Brownsville and Matamoros, Mexico during the great depression and celebrating the cultural experience of life on the border. This year the organization will partner up with local universities and bringing a well known Mexican Mariachi group named Mariachi Vargas to the festival in late February.

Ken Leick, Charro Days President, stated, "You know, we're just super excited. This is kind of like, the initial kick-off to Charro Days. We're starting a little bit early this year, but it's a special occasion for us regarding this unveiling." Charro Days will also release the official poster for the festival at the beginning of the year.
