A ceremony was held on Wednesday by Starr county officials on the opening of a new housing complex for low income families. It's the most recent update to any public housing in forty years for the county and Housing Authority representatives say it took years to get it done. Starr county was able to get a $5.2 million dollar grant from the Housing and Urban Development agency and the complex was dedicated to Manuel Benavides Jr. The complex includes seventeen housing units, thirty four dwelling units, one administration building and one maintenance warehouse.
