The number of confirmed swine flu cases has jumped to 64 in five states and five people have been hospitalized.
Researchers at the Centers for Disease Control say, they have not been able to identify a factor that distinguishes this strain of flu from the seasonal flu. People who have high fever and flu like symptoms are urged to contact their doctor especially if they have traveled to Mexico.
The CDC is continuing to deploy materials from the strategic national stockpile like antivirals and medical supplies. Officials also say they may stop referring to this strain of the flu virus as swine flu because there doesn't appear to be any evidence that contact with pigs or eating pork causes infection.
