Custom and Border Protection officers arrested an American couple who attempted to smuggle two Mexican children into the United States without valid entry documents.

On Monday, August 19th officers came into contact with a couple, residing in Brownsville, at the Brownsville/Matamoros port of entry with three minor children 8, 13, and 15 years of age attempting to cross into the country.

The driver presented birth certificates for the children, but the CBP officer referred all of the individuals to a secondary inspection to review entry documents.

Officers identified two of the children, the 13 and 15 year-old, as Mexican residents and the couple was arrested on violations of immigration law. The 8 year-old child was identified as an American citizen and handed him over to a family member.
