BROWNSVILLE, TEXAS (KVEO NEWSCENTER 23) — U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers intercepted an American woman attempting to smuggle two children into the country.
On Sunday, September 15th at the Brownsville/Matamoros port of entry an American woman, from Houston, presented U.S. birth certificates for two minor children to enter the country.
The CBP officer referred all of them to a secondary inspection for review of the birth certificates for the children. Officers further determined the children, dressed as boys, were in fact girls with no legal documents to enter the Untied States.
The woman was taken into custody for alleged violations of immigration law and the girls, one and four years of age, were placed in the care of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
