CBP officers seize over $1.5M of marijuana in shipment of jalapeno peppers

Custom and Border Protection officers, working the Rio Grande City port of entry, seized $1,641,000 worth of marijuana.

On Monday, August 26th, officers working the Rio Grande City Camargo cargo facility came into contact with a white 1991 Freightliner tractor trailer with a shipment of jalapeno peppers.

The shipment was sent to a secondary inspection for agricultural compilance and during inspection of some crates officers found packages of suspected narcotics inside the crates.

Officers removed 479 packages of marijuana weighing 1,642 lbs. which was seized with the vehilce and the driver was handed over to Homeland Security investigators.
