CBP officers arrested a woman, from Mission, allegedly attempting to smuggle an infant into the United States.

The incident happened on Saturday, April 6, at the Hidalgo port of entry when a female, 19, drove up to an inspection booth with a 11 month-old male infant. The female presented a Texas ID and a U.S. birth certificate for herself and the infant, claiming the infant was her son.

Both were sent to a secondary inspection and after further questioning it was determined that the infant was not related to the female and in fact was a citizen of Mexcio.

The female was incarcerated on charges for violations of U.S. immigration laws and the infant was released to the biological mother who arrived at the port of entry.
