CBP officers arrest man wanted in Michigan on charges of sexual assault
PROGRESO, TX — U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers at the Progreso International Bridge apprehended a man on an arrest warrant for sexual assault from Van Buren County in the state of Michigan.
On Friday, February 21st a CBP officer’s query of a pedestrian on primary at the Progreso International Bridge resulted in a possible active arrest warrant for a man identified as John Howard Sonnevil. Mr. Sonnevil, a 70 year-old United States citizen who resides in Lawton, Michigan was referred for a secondary examination and confirmation of the active arrest warrant. A CBP officer’s secondary checks of a national database confirmed the active warrant for sexual assault for Sonnevil.
Pending charges for John Howard Sonnevil are related to a case from Van Buren County in the state of Michigan for sexual assault. CBP officers arrested John Howard Sonnevil and subsequently turned him over to the custody of the Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office. John Howard Sonnevil was transported to the Hidalgo County Jail pending extradition to Michigan.
