Custom and Border Protection officer seized $50,000 in currency at a Brownsville port of entry.

On Thursday, June 13, Custom agents, working the outbound lanes at the Brownsville/Matamoros port of entry, came into contact with a 1996 Ford Crown Victoria crossing into Mexico.

The driver, 24, from Brownsville and a U.S. citizen was referred to a secondary inspection where agents found six packages of U.S. currency totaling $50,000.

The agents arrested the driver, who was handed over to Homeland Security investigators, and seized the money.
