Security cameras show wig-wearing thief targeting assisted living homes.

Georgia authorities are searching for a mysterious thief who's been targeting Atlanta-area assisted living facilities.

They don't know if it's a man or a woman and more importantly, they don't know who it is.

The suspect was captured on video surveillance cameras at the Saint Anne's Terrace home on Northside Parkway in Buckhead.

"He may be working with one or two other people," said Det. James Polite.

The surveillance video shows the suspect wearing nurses clothing, an ID tag and a large wig.

It shows him or her prowling the hallways, walking in and out of rooms looking for things to steal.

"They seem to know where all the security cameras are located and they go to great length to conceal them by ducking their head when they go past," Det. Polite said.

That was last Friday afternoon.

Earlier in the day police believe the same suspect walked into the Saint George Village home in Roswell.

Roswell police said the suspect stole credit cards from two residents.

"Whoever this person is, male or female, probably has been in these facilities at one point," Det. Polite said. "It's someone who knows the layout of these particular facilities."

Detective Polite said he is also in contact with Alpharetta Police who have a similar incident at an assisted living home.

"We don't know if the person has a criminal record; we don't know if confronted by one of the elderly residents, if this person will turn violent," he said.

At Saint Anne's Terrace, a witness saw the suspect get into a dark colored, Toyota Corolla with tinted windows.

The witness saw a Georgia tag on the car but only saw the letters "WD", a partial tag.

Atlanta Police are asking anyone who recognizes the suspect in the surveillance video to call Crime Stoppers Atlanta at 404-577-TIPS (8477).
