Dashcam rolls as chimpanzee attacks police car.

Police have released dash cam video of the escaped chimpanzee that briefly terrorized a Kansas City, Missouri neighborhood Tuesday, banging on houses, opening occupied car doors and smashing the window of a Kansas City police cruiser.

The dash cam video shows the chimp named Sue approach the cruiser pushing a garbage can.

When the can collides with the police car, the chimp seems to lose interest and jumps on top of the vehicle.

It it kicks and punches the windshield, causing a small crack, then turns and walks away.

Police were called to the area just before noon Tuesday when residents spotted the escaped chimp roaming the neighborhood with a rope tied around its neck.

The chimp was eventually led back into its cage by its owner.

Animal Control officers took it to Monkey Island, a refuge for primates located in Greenwood, Missouri.
