The Catholic Diocese of Brownsville is joining in the fight to help push for a veterans hospital here in the Valley.

Currently there is only a VA clinic in Harlingen, but if vets need emergency care including surgery their only option is to travel to San Antonio's Audie Murphy Hospital. The Diocese of Brownsville say's it wants to help these vets so they have started a petition at all the churches in the Valley.

Collecting nearly 10,000 signatures so far the petition was given to Congressman Ruben Hinojosa who will take it to Washington. Bishop Reymundo Pena says for serving our country these vets deserve emergency services and a state of the art hospital and the more the Catholic church can do to help these vets the better.
