Catholic Charities of the RGV Kick's Off Summer Food Program
The USDA, along with the Catholic Charities of the RGV kicked off it's summer food service program on Thursday in San Juan.
The program gives several kids a free, nutritious meal and lots of healthy snacks. It was created to feed low income children who don't have a healthy meal to eat during the summer. Officials say a school lunch is sometimes the only healthy meal that low income children get. They also say no child should go hungry just because school lets out during the summer. Twenty five feeding locations will be opened throughout the Valley starting June 1st.
