The Shade Brigade is on patrol, ready to help seniors conquer the heat.

The program, run by Canterbury Court, is aimed at helping local seniors brave the summer's intense heat. The Shade Brigade delivers water, juice and fruit to local parks, nursing homes and retirement facilities since seniors are more prone to dehydration and dementia.

Erica Moreno, Executive Director at Canterbury Court said, "The Shade Brigade is a program that we put together to inform our elderly about staying hydrated and indoors to protect them from the heat and to inform them also about our community and the services we provide."

Marisol Hallet, Asst. Exec. Director added, "This is our bag, this is our Shade Brigade bag and we fill it up with Gatorade and water and then give them a flyer. You know inform them the importance about why it is important to stay hydrated."

The Shade Brigade goes out in Harlingen two or three times a week to service seniors.
