Even with the U.S. State Department's warning about traveling into Mexico and resort towns are hoping the annual influx of Spring Breakers from the U.S. will help fight off the effects of the global economic slowdown.
Cancun is booked solid for the Spring Break season despite the economic slow down and the Mexican government predicts a 2.5% rise. That will help soften the blow as Mexico follows the U.S. into a recession, but some in the tourist industry worry that the surge in gang violence and the travel warnings from the State Department could keep many tourist away.
