Cameron County progresses on Flor De Mayo project

BROWNSVILLE - Right now, Land lush with green vegetation site near the intersection of Alton Gloor and 281. It's here that with in Years a new bridge will be built. The plan has been in the works for several decades and now, those plans are actually moving forward, but like any big project, it's not going to happen overnight.
The bill build the bridge will initially cost the county a little over eleven million dollars. In time with population growth that we see, with the economic development that's going along that corridor of 3248 that the bridge will be self sustaining in five years. Meaning it will be paid for and start making money for the county. The federal government will for and start making money for the county. The federal Government will foot the bill similar to the gateway International Bridge will be similar to the Gateway International Bridge in terms of Operation. The next big step will be acquiring the presidential permit this permit allows the construction, connection, operation, or maintained of certain facilities, like the Flor de Mayo, at the borders of the United States and Mexico, so that the bridge proposal can actually move forward.
