Some inmates at Olmito's overcrowded Carrizalez-Rucker Detention Center could be transferred to a facility in the Coastal Bend area as early as tomorrow.
The county will pay the facility 138 thousand dollars for every 30 days the inmates are there, which will be paid from the money Cameron County receives from the federal government to keep federal inmates at Carrizalez...but it won't last more than a year because once the construction being done at the detention center is finished, 365 beds will be added to the existing capacity.
