It's a machine that zaps mosquitoes dead and now Brownsville's Vector Control Department has one, it's an ultrasonic machine called a Larvasonic.

Officials say it will be one more tool in their fight against mosquitoes as Health Director Art Rodriguez stated, "It does not replace what we currently do with larvaciding and adulticiding, but it gives us another extension of the work we do to be able to do it faster cause the device allows us to actually put a probe down in the water, the storm water drains and it allows us to effectively kill the mosquito population in the water instantly."

There are two other cities, in the state, that are using this technology, Dallas and Houston.
