Cameron County Commissioners Considering Increasing Tax Rate

Wednesday, August 24, 2011 - 8:53am
Property tax rates in Cameron county could be on the rise to help balance the nearly $3 million dollar budget shortfall the county is facing.
Tuesday was first of two public hearings to discuss the possible increase on the property tax rate for residents of Cameron county. What county commissioners do know is that the max amount would cap out at two cents. If commissioners choose not to raise property taxes, they would consider raising the bridge toll rates in the county.
