Shrimping season in Texas is ready to get underway in the Gulf of Mexico, and in the Brownsville shrimp basin, fleets were blessed for a good year.

Father Mark Watters from Hamilton Canada jumped aboard the Master Pete, a shrimp boat and went up and down the shrimp basin blessing boats this morning. This is the 9th year the Port Isabel-Brownsville local shrimp association has held this event.

Shrimping season in the state of Texas starts the 15th of July.
