Brownsville - Professional soccer is kicking its way into Brownsville.

The Barracudas FC are joining the Professional Arena Soccer League. The league consists of 24 teams that extend throughout the United States and Mexico.

The Barracudas have been a local recreational team since 2004, but are making the transition to professional starting this November when the new season begins.

The team is getting funding from the league to build a new stadium in Brownsville with hopes to draw in big crowds.

"I want the city of Brownsville and the Rio Grande Valley to let them know that, you know we are excited about this new organization and this new project for us. We want to let them know that there is more coming. We need their support for the young kids, for the community. We want to have entertainment, like Kevin said, here in the valley."

Open tryouts will be held next week on Thursday. For more information visit
