It all started Wednesday morning at the 2900 block of Boca Chica when a woman was walking and police say her purse was snatched by Arnold Pena III.
Police say Pena then jumped in a Ford Expedition with a female a driver and headed to the cricket store on Boca Chica.

"They were trying to open an account with the victim's ids and information."said Brownsville police officer
Jose Trevino.

Police say the two thieves had no luck because they tried using the victims debt card which had already been canceled right after she was robbed.

Police say the victim while driving in the area noticed the suspect’s car in the Cricket parking lot. She took pictures of license plates and tried to confront the suspects.

"A purse id it’s not worth getting hurt over so ultimately the best thing is do is call authorities and give them information you might have.”said Trevino
The victim was not harmed when she confronted them. The thieves took off down Boca Chica. The victim called police and they able to catch the suspects on the 6700 block of 5th street.
